NGS Recommends Fixed Leg Tripods

The National Geodetic Survey, the nations positioning agency, has been directed by Congress to implement a Height Modernization Program throughout the country. The basis for this program is to establish a very accurate vertical measurement system. Height Modernization supports the five mission goals as outlined in NOAA’s Strategic Plan. Go to their web site for more specifics at www.ngs.noaa.gov/heightmod/

They have recommended the use of fixed leg tripods for their GPS and digital level operations. The below file is a reminder that Nedo is prepared to supply a high quality fix leg tripod. This tripod is also equipped with the Nedo exclusive plastic coating on all of its wood surfaces. This is a guarantee that this tripod will never warp and you can offer your customers a trouble free product. With the emergence of this program, we have recently seen a lot of activity with this product.

Another example of Nedo’s Tripod Innovation and Ingenuity

Tripods have been improved over the years and you would think there was no other feature that could be added to improve the overall operation of a simple tripod until now. Nedo is proud to introduce a new feature on its quick clamp tripod with a new and innovative leg locking system. A cumbersome strap to lock the legs for transport is no longer needed.
It was Nedo’s innovation which developed the first quick clamp system. Once the patents had expired, the quick clamp tripod rapidly became the standard in the surveying equipment industry. In addition, all wooden parts are encased in a special PVC and polyethylene to prevent swelling caused by moisture. Yes, another Nedo first.

I invite you to view the picture of this very unique feature along with other great features which make this tripod a near perfect product. This is not a product for low end instruments but a product that should be sold with total stations and robotic instruments. This tripod is for quality minded customers which will appreciate you for looking after their best interests.

Survey Stakes in Florida

Where are they now? Read our numerous entries about those in the past who have tried to produce wood survey stakes in Florida. Currently we are getting numerous calls from wholesalers wanting cheap stakes to resell to their customers supply yards, these are items that are low cost, heavy, carry little markup, require handeling equipment to move and only allow so much markup before they become priced out of the market, yet these suppliers will continue to scratch their head and try to talk yet another person into producing wood stakes for them without telling them their last three suppliers have gone belly up.

Where are they now?

We can name over a dozen stake companies that have come and gone in the last few years. Florida land surveyors have been burned too many times by companies promising to supply them with wood stakes and lath. Lets list a few of them below.
  1. Prime Stakes
  2. Gulf Coast Survey Supply
  3. Cheap Stakes
  4. The Stake Company
  5. Eagle Stakes
  6. Ruffs Saw and Tool
  7. Delray Stake
  8. Jonas Survey Stakes
  9. Southern Stake
  10. BG Stake Company
  11. Stakes-n-Stuff
  12. Florida Survey Supplies
  13. Quest of Orlando
  14. D and G Stake Company
  15. MacDonald Center
  16. B and E Stakes
  17. Goulad Stakes
Ask yourself this simple question
"Where was your stake supplier 5 or 10 years ago? Where will they be 15 years from now?"

Stakemill Welcomes Prime Stakes Customers

Stakemill is happy to provide wood stakes, iron rods and concrete monuments to those of you who have been unable to get a return phone call or email from Prime Stakes out of Lake City Florida. Stakemill once again wants to remind everyone that we have seen dozens of stake suppliers start-up and close more times than we see stake suppliers continue their operation. Rather than repeat ourselves and ask you to go with an established supplier or stay away from locations run in far, far away locations or those run next to mobile homes, we will list a few obvious points those failed business ignored. It simply takes far away locations too long to reach their customer base by vehicle, and those who reside where they work may eventually be zoned out of business or have nothing at stake and can walk away with little consequence and finally most do not know how expensive it is to operate a stake operation. We have always been located in a modern warehouse facility located in business parks allowing us to operate as other properly run business do. We do not share our water and electric bill with our residence, we do not have dirt parking lots nor do we have portable toilets in our parking lot. Consider these facts next time you accept a job that requires a supplier you will need for the entire job, you would not hire employees that could just disappear and you would not buy equipment that only worked when it wanted to, so do the same with your wood stakes, choose STAKEMILL.
