Following is some insight on the Kenwood Serial Numbering System. It is only necessary to provide a copy of the Invoice to prove that the radio is still in warranty (the 1-2 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty starts on the date of purchase by the First Radio End-User not on the date the Radio was originally manufactured) in instances where the individual radio’s Serial Number is past the 1-2 Year Manufacturing date. Otherwise the Kenwood Service Center will recognize that the radio is in warranty just by looking at the Serial Number.
Serial Number Dating Format:
The First Number corresponds to the Kenwood Fiscal Year it was manufactured in.
The Second and Third Numbers correspond to the Month of manufacture.
Kenwood's Fiscal Year is April through March.
2006 is represented by the Number 8, 2009 by the Number 1, 2010 goes to 2, 2011 will be represented by the Number 3, 2012 will be
represented by the Number 4, etc. (I.E. 1st three digits of 101 would represent a manufacture date of April, 2009, 1st three digits of 412 would
represent a manufacture date of March, 20012 1st three digits of 001 would represent a manufacture date of April, 2008)
The Kenwood Warranty is effective for 2-Years for Radios and 1-Year for Kenwood original accessories (including rechargeable
batteries), measured from the date of purchase by the first End-User.
